CeBIT on the Right Track

Ernst Raue, Member of the Board

Deutsche Messe AG

The CeBIT success story continues unabated. In March 2006, the world will again be treated to a truly unique showcase that covers the entire digital universe at a single location ¨C in Hannover, Germany, from 9 to 15 March 2006. But CeBIT is much more than just a shop window for new products. Knowledge transfer and networking also play an increasingly important role. With around 30 special presentations and 800 individual lectures, CeBIT is the leading platform for know-how transfer and community building. Furthermore, with  128 000 professionals attending from across the world, no other ICT trade show enjoys such an unparalleled international profile.

Huge international appeal

The same international appeal is also evident on the exhibitor side. Organizers Deutsche Messe AG are expecting nearly 6,300 exhibitors from some 70 countries at CeBIT 2006. Something like 3,300 of these firms have registered direct from abroad. Their numbers are swelled by the many international concerns which will be represented at the show by their German branch companies. The main growth area for exhibitor registrations is in Asia, with China, Hong Kong and South Korea all represented much more strongly in 2006. Next year¡¯s CeBIT is expected to attract over 1,700 exhibitors from the Asian-Pacific region ¨C a figure unmatched by any other trade fair of its kind in the world, even in Asia. It is also gratifying to note the continuing interest from firms in the growth regions of Eastern and Central Europe. With over 200 exhibiting firms in 2006 the level of participation remains virtually unchanged from this year ¨C despite drastic cuts in state subsidies for trade show exhibitors.

Total stand bookings for the next CeBIT amount to over 300,000 m². The large number of new registrations and returning CeBIT exhibitors is particularly pleasing. The 150 ¡°new acquisitions¡± include top names such as LM Ericsson, Emerson Networks, Gazprom, the Metrogroup, Netgear, Vestel Foreign Trade and ZTE.
