Headaches in Dealing with Legacy Systems

Our web server adopts LAMP technology, which stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. Even as simple and as open as that, we still experience software upgrading and maintenance issues, or so called legacy system issues. Think about that, it is not database alone, not OS alone, not scripting languages alone, on upgrading and maintenance; they all have to work together seamlessly, they all have their own versions, sub-versions, patches, hacks, etc., so there is some engineering challenges there, even for a startup type like us.

Now how about for those upstarts? I believe their headaches in dealing with legacy systems must be even more severe. Shall Enterprise 2.0 address such issue as well? You bet
